Quick-Start Guide

 Control Audio/Video and other IR controlled products with INSTEON

 Convert INSTEON signals to learned IR signals

 Build elegant scenes like “Movie Time”

Installation and Programming

1) Do not cut off either emitter or the other one will stop working

2) Temporarily plug IRLinc into a an extension cord for easy access to

bottom for setup, plug extension cord into an outlet near your AV gear

Status LED will turn Blue

3) Temporarily tape IR emitter over IR sensor on your IR controlled product

4) To Learn your IR Code:

a. Double-tap the Set button on IRLinc

IRLinc will double-beep & Status LED will blink

b. Hold your remote a couple inches from bottom of IRLinc,

point it at the IR sensor and tap the button on your remote

to be learned

IRLinc will double-beep and its Status LED will stop blinking

(if IRLinc beeps 8 times, return to step 3)

c. Test the learned IR code by tapping the Set button on

IRLinc once

IRLinc will beep. (If not, return to step 3)

IR-controlled device will respond (if not, try moving the

emitter slightly and retry)

5) Peel-off backing from one of the IR emitters and mount it over the IR

sensor

6) To Add the IR code to an INSTEON Scene / Controller Button:

a. Press & hold the Scene Controller button until it beeps

Controller's LED will blink

b. Press & hold the Set button on IRLinc until it double-beeps

c. Wait until you hear a 2

double-beep (if you don’t hear one, return to step 2)

d. Confirm that Scene addition was successful by sending an On from Controller's Scene button

IR controlled device should respond

e. Optional: If you wish the IR code to respond to the INSTEON button press OFF instead of ON,

send an OFF from the controller button within 30 seconds

IR controlled device should respond to IR command

7) If you wish to create a macro (one INSTEON command resulting in multiple IR commands being sent), return

to step 4 and repeat

Most models

Notes: IRLinc responds to INSTEON On and Off commands (Brights and Dims are ignored)

IR commands associated with INSTEON On & Off commands are independent for flexibility.
